CARACAS, March 4 .- The president of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, met with the foreign ministers of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA), in this capital, to discuss the peace proposal put forward by Venezuela with respect to the conflict in Libya, reported YVKE.
THE FOREIGN MINISTERS OF THE ALLIANCE RATIFY THE PROPOSED LIBYA MEDIATION.
“I was watching how the United Nations, European Union, among others, were planning the war. Now they are planning war in front of the world. It’s crazy. So we must stop this madness. Ceasefire. Fidel Castro, Daniel Ortega, Rafael Correa, Evo Morales support us. Given the silence of all, ALBA has been the voice, “he said.
“What they want is the oil of Libya, but that can be very expensive. The Yankee Empire is looking for a thousand ways to overcome the crisis they are involved in, and one of these ways is through war. Against so much cynicism ALBA is raising its voice, “he said.
Chavez also read the communiqué of NATO foreign ministers, meeting here today, at which they agreed to support a humanitarian commission for Libya repeating the principle of nonintervention, said VNA.
The Libyan government authorized Venezuela to take the steps necessary for selecting committee members and coordinate the international peace proposal by President Chávez, according to a letter sent by the Libyan foreign minister, Mousa Kousa, read at the meeting of foreign ministers by host Nicolas Maduro.
Likewise, the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez reiterated that plans are under way aimed at preparing international public opinion for military intervention by the U.S. and its allies in Libya, reported PL.
He ratified the strong rejection of Cuba to what he described as an opportunistic attempt to seize the oil of that Arab nation.
